PSYCHOMETRIC
TESTING
Well
established and researched psychometrics can provide clear
indicators of levels of self awareness, orientations to forming
relationships and how a team will gel together. At Rawson
Downey we specialise in two worldclass and particularly powerful
self development tools that help people improve their self
awareness and thereby their personal effectiveness.
We
offer the Myers Briggs (MBTI) & Fundamental Interpersonal
Relations Orientation (FIRO-B)
|
|
MBTI
looks at how an individual sees the world they live
in and how they interact with others
|
|
|
FIRO-B
focuses on developing productive long-term relationships
|
Both
are questionnaire based "personality" tools and
can be completed on line (recommended) or we can send you
a paper version in the post
They
are also available independently with optional one to one
coaching/feedback from our experienced qualified practitioners
What
is MBTI - (Myers Briggs Type Indicator)?
MBTI is a multiple-choice personality
questionnaire that looks at how individuals perceive the world
in which they live and how they prefer to interact with others.
What
will I gain from using the MBTI & how can it help me?
It helps people to begin to understand
their working and personal relationships in a positive and
constructive way. This is done by identifying an individual's
psychological 'type', based on four dimensions of personality
which look at an individual's preferred style. These dimensions
are:
|
E I:
Where
you prefer to get & focus your energy or attention
|
Extraversion
Prefers
to draw energy from the outer world of activity, people
|
Introversion
Prefers
to draw energy form the inner world of reflections,
feelings & ideas
|
|
S N:
The
kind of information you prefer to gather & trust
|
Sensing
(S)
Prefers to focus on information gained from the five
senses & on practical applications
|
iNtuition (N)
Prefers to focus on patterns, connections & possible
meanings
|
|
T F:
The process you prefer to use to
evaluate information & come to
decisions
|
Thinking
(T)
Prefers to base decisions on logic & objective
analysis of cause & effect
|
Feeling
(F)
Prefers to base decisions on a valuing process, considering
what is important to people
|
|
J
P:
How you prefer to deal with
the world around you,
your preferred lifestyle
|
Judging (P)
Likes a planned, organised approach
to life, & prefers to have things decided
|
Perceiving
(P)
Likes a flexible, spontaneous approach & prefers
to keep options open
|
The
various combinations result in providing a 'best-fit type'
using one letter from each dimension, e.g. ENFJ, ISTP etc.
When applied in an ethical and directed way, understanding
your own and other's preferences can drive tangible improvements
to not only working relationships but also job satisfaction.
Each type provides clues about a person's externalised and
observable behaviour and therefore how a person is likely
to react to people and/or circumstances and how their reaction
differs with those of other types.
Not just face value...
The MBTI framework acknowledges that
individuals are more than just the sum of their preferences.
It also provides a way of understanding the dynamic interactions
between the different parts of psychological type, in particular
as a person matures throughout their life and when they are
under stress
How can I identify my MBTI
personality type?
The first step is to complete the MBTI
questionnaire - this can be completed online or in paper form
which can be posted to you.
The
completed questionnaire will lead to identifying your "type",
which can then be explored in greater detail through a one
to one coaching/feedback session with one of our qualified
practitioners.
What
Is FIRO-B (Fundamental Interpersonal Orientation Behaviour)?
The FIRO-B instrument is a personality
questionnaire focusing on how individuals behave towards others,
and how they expect others to behave towards them. It is sometimes
described as the key to productive relationships in all walks
of life.
What
will I gain from using FIRO-B & how can it help me?
In essence using FIRO-B will give you
an insight into how you can develop productive long-term relationships.
FIRO-B uses a simple model of interpersonal relationship styles
and can reveal hidden mismatches between wanted behaviour
and actual expressed behaviour. The tool offers profound insights
that touch at the heart of an individual's sense of their
relationships and the roles they adopt.
I t identifies aspects of an individual's personality by looking
at three "interpersonal" need areas and thereby
identifying likely sources of tension. It helps individuals
to begin to appreciate and understand the reasons behind often
complex and difficult relationship issues.
Individuals
benefit from using FIRO-B by gaining a new awareness of themselves
that:-
|
|
Increases
the chances of their needs being met
|
|
|
Helps
individuals to appreciate how their behavior impacts
on others
|
|
|
Potentially
improves an individual's ability to manage conflict
|
|
|
The
type of workplace and organizational style in which
individual thrives
|
Exploring
these issues with our qualified coaches frequently leads to
clues of the often unspoken (internalised) motivation for
a persons behaviour - rarely obvious to the outside world.
An individual can expect to walk away from coaching/feedback
session with new techniques that could enable them to greatly
improve and enhance how they manage their relationships.
How
can I identify my interpersonal needs?
The first step is to complete the FIRO-B
questionnaire - this can be completed online or in paper form
which can be posted to you.
The
completed questionnaire will lead to identifying your primary
needs in relationships - and what is really important to you.
This can then be explored in greater detail through a one
to one coaching/feedback session with one of our qualified
practitioners.
